Our mission and vision

The inspiration for The Circuit Charitable Trust arose from a critical gap in support for contractors who have served in high-risk environments. Unlike military personnel, many contractors are not eligible for government assistance programs such as those provided by Veteran Affairs. Furthermore, mainstream mental health systems, support, and the NZ police lack the specialised experience to effectively address the unique challenges faced by this group, particularly during mental health crisis.

At The Circuit Trust, we are committed to providing holistic, wrap-around support for these individuals and their families. Our aim is to ensure they receive the comprehensive care they deserve. We also actively advocate for their needs, striving to ensure they access appropriate treatment and recognition. We are proud to incorporate Māori values throughout our services, offering culturally informed support groups and fostering connections among all veteran contractors.

Our long-term vision for The Circuit Charitable Trust is to become a vital not-for-profit charitable trust, reaching every New Zealand contractor who has deployed to high-risk countries. We aspire to grow into an organisation similar to Veteran Affairs, providing crucial support to those who do not qualify for traditional veteran services but are in dire need.

We are deeply committed to intertwining Te Whare Tapa Whā with mainstream therapy, offering a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to healing. Advocating for appropriate treatment tailored to their age and injuries is paramount. We are also dedicated to community safety through a crisis intervention module, enabling us to support individuals proactively if a breakdown is on the horizon. To achieve these ambitious goals, we are actively seeking grants and sponsorships, as our dedicated team will primarily consist of volunteers.
